Why DDF

This department is charged with the responsibility of providing and maintaining rural infrastructure within the Communal, Resettlement and Small Scale Commercial Farming areas of Zimbabwe. Its programmes are funded by the government, donors and the private sector.

 

Mission statement

In accordance with its enabling Act, Number 58 of 1981, the District Development Fund’s Mission is to:-

Provide and maintain sustainable Rural Development Infrastructure, Resettlement, Tillage, Transport and other services so as to uplift the living standards of the rural people.

 

ORGANISATION STRUCTURE OF THE DISTRICT DEVELOPMENT FUND

In pursuit of the above Mission, the District Development Fund institute has at his helm the following:-

a)         The Trustee of the Fund “… in whom the fund shall be vested and who shall, subject to the provisions of this Act, have the sole management, control and use of the Fund,” Refer to DDF Act; Number 58 of 1981).

b)         The Chief Secretary in the Office of the President and Cabinet who is Accounting Officer for the Fund;

c)         The District Development Fund Directorate which is made up of civil servants charged with the responsibility of leading, managing and controlling its material and human resources and direct all its operations; and

d)         The Provincial and district level respectively, who provide management support to the Directorate in carrying out its mandate as here stated
